M. Lawrence Kaplan, M.D.

 M. Lawrence Kaplan, MDDr. Kaplan is an actively practicing Emergency Medicine Physician, as well as the Medical Director, with over 31 years of clinical experience and graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He is also Board Certified in Forensic Medicine, a Diplomat of the American Board of Forensic Medicine in addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Forensic Medicine International.

While serving in the Army as a Flight Surgeon, Emergency and Forensic Medicine Physician, he treated thousands of patients involving acute trauma while commanding Army units both on active and reserve duty. He has extensive field command experience and in Bosnia and was the Medical Officer in Charge of Theater Operations. He worked with the group as a tactical operations manager and coordinator.

Dr. Kaplan has worked with NASA as a flight surgeon on the shuttle launch and recovery team. As a Forensic Medicine Physician, he serves as a medical consultant for the State of Florida and also serves as a member of FEMA’s Disaster Management Assistance Team (DMAT) for Central Florida. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine faculty member of the University of Central Florida College of Medicine and maintains current certifications in Advanced Trauma Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advances Life Support. He is a lifetime member of the Special Operations Medical Association.
On the personal side, his wife, Lori, is a neonatal critical care nurse and his daughter, Leslie, is attending USF in Tampa and is a National Gymnastics Champion.
